Treatments offered by The Physiotherapy Centre:-

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy

  • Manual Therapy involves the use of gentle mobilising techniques aimed at restoring normal, natural function.
  • Mobilisation can be directed at joints and soft tissue, which, combined with exercise therapy and stretching, is effective for all musculo-skeletal conditions.
  • Back pain, sciatica, cervical spondylosis and headaches all respond well to these gentle mobilising techniques.
  • We have facilities for cervical and lumbar mechanical traction used for slipped discs and arthritic problems of the spine.
  • Graded exercise is always an important part of rehabilitation and will be introduced into your treatment plan as is necessary.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise-based programme, designed to promote central nervous system compensation for inner ear deficits which can be short term or long term. We are able to help with the following conditions:-

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Meniere’s disease
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Vestibular neuritis

When vestibular organs are damaged by disease or injury, the brain can no longer rely on them for accurate information about equilibrium and motion, often resulting in dizziness, vertigo, balance problems and other symptoms. This can be a disabling experience.

Our goal is to retrain the brain to recognise and process signals from the vestibular system in co-ordination with vision and proprioception. Ben Muvhuti, is a qualified vestibular rehabilitation therapist with an advanced vestibular rehabilitation qualification. Ben has experience of working for the Falls Prevention Service in Maidstone in the NHS alongside his clinic here at The Physiotherapy Centre. To learn more, visit Ben Muvhuti's page....

We have a range of the latest Electrotherapy equipment to complement our treatments.

  • Ultra-Sound therapy
  • Interferential therapy
  • Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Energy
  • Lumbar and Cervical Traction
  • TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)

Conditions which may benefit from Electrotherapy Treatment, used in conjunction with manual therapy...

Sports Injuries - Ligament and tendon sprains, muscle tears, swollen joints. Runners and jumpers knee.
Strain and over-use Injuries - Tendonitis, tennis and golfers elbow, carpal tunnel, repetitive strain injury, frozen shoulder, achilles tendonitis.
Arthritis - Osteoarthritis. Rheumatological conditions. Spondylitis.

The Physiotherapy Centre has Chartered Physiotherapists who are qualified to practice acupuncture for pain relief to complement their established manual therapy skills. Acupuncture stimulates the brain to produce natural pain relieving chemicals which assist in the healing processes needed to restore normal function to an injured area. These members of staff belong to the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) which ensures we meet the high standards of skills needed to use acupuncture safely and effectively.

Reflex therapy

Karen Fawcett, as well as being a Chartered Physiotherapist, is also a qualified Reflex-therapist and is a member of the Federation of Holistic Medicine. During Reflextherapy treatment, gentle pressure is applied to the soles of the feet, where specific areas correspond to the systems and organs of the body. Working on these areas can help to restore balance within the body to encourage healing and relaxation. Reflextherapy is suitable for all ages and as a qualified professional, Karen can treat patients at The Physiotherapy Centre with a full, overall understanding of their needs.
